Snow Day Fun

Today, we had a snow day. I am not sure why, since it didn't snow that much, and the roads were perfectly clear. So I decided to relax and read a good book. Our family cat, Shadow, sat with me on the bed.

I decided to sit down with one of my favourite childhood novels, The Secret Garden. I was enjoying myself when Alex came into my room.

"Let's go play out in the snow," Alex said.

I felt a bit offput. My twin sister, Rebecca, had decided to invite Alex over for a sleepover last night, but then Rebecca developed a fever overnight, and was sick in bed. I didn't know why Alex just didn't go home already.

"Um," I said. "You are going out in shorts?"

"Of course not, I will change," Alex scoffed. She turned around and headed out of my bedroom.

I sighed. I really didn't want to go play in the snow, but at the same time, I know it would be rude to ignore my sister's guest, especially when my sister was ill. I grabbed my down vest, scarf, hat, mittens, and boots and headed outside to find Alex already there.

"Isn't this great?" Alex asked, looking happy. "Let's make snow angels."

"Meh, it's kind of cold and windy to be outside. And the sun keeps popping in and out." I tried to make an excuse to go in.

"Oh, don't be a wuss," Alex rolled her eyes. "C'mon."

She fell into the snow, with light powder flying up around her.

I sighed, and let myself fall back as well. Except my hat fell off with the wind and momentum.

"See?" Alex commented. "Fun."

Okay, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I guess I was being a bit of a crab, staying holed up in my room. I still don't know what to think of Alex though.
